Shooting Wedding Photography in Oklahoma: A Visual Guide by Venue

When it comes to doing wedding photography around Oklahoma, capturing the essence of the venue is critical. In OKC we have some great venues that offer fantastic templates for wedding photos. Here are a few of my favorite choices.


1. The Skirvin Hilton





  • Why It’s Great: This historic old school hotel has elegant looks with classic charm. The grand ballroom, with its ornate details, stairs and beautiful chandeliers, is perfect for getting timeless wedding photography

2. The Myriad Botanical Gardens




  • Why It’s Great: This location offers lush gardens and beautiful landscapes. The Crystal Bridge, with its unique architecture and surrounding greenery, provides a picturesque setting for outdoor or semi-outdoor shots.

3. Downtown Main St in Norman

  • Why It’s Great: Downtown next to Lazy Circles Brewing and interesting spots like the new Uncanny Art House down the street this small football and artists town has a lot of charm and great people. 








4. The Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club



  • Why It’s Great: The scenic beauty of the golf course and the pristine design offer a refined space for photos. You can make art with both the natural beauty of the greens and the ambiance of the venue.

5. The Colcord Hotel

6. The Edmond Historical Society & Museum

Tips for Wedding Photography:

  1. Scout the Venue for Details: Visit the venue beforehand to understand the lighting conditions, layout, and best spot for your pictures posed and candid.

  2. Think about the Time of Day: Natural light as always can be a big help. For outdoor venues, golden hour can provide a warm, flattering light.

  3. Capture Details: Don’t forget to photograph the little things, decoations, rings, and clothes—that make the day special. The moments in between the moments.

  4. Be Prepared for The Weather: If you’re planning to shoot outdoors you definitely need to have a backup plan for weather. This is essential.

  5. Communicate with the Couple: Asking questions and getting the couples vision and any specific shots they want. This helps ensure that you capture the moments they’ll cherish most. I always have them send me examples of shots they like.
