Capturing Home Security in the Current Day and Age

Planning Your Shoot

  1. Define Your Goals: Determine what you want to showcase—specific products, features, or overall security systems, access control or video surveillance set ups.
  2. Storyboard: Create an outline of the videos, drone shots, and images you want to capture. This could include product close-ups, installations, employee headshots and user testimonials.

Equipment

  1. Drones: Use a high-quality drone with a good camera. Ensure it has stabilization features for smooth footage.
  2. Cameras: A DSLR or mirrorless camera can capture high-resolution product shots. Some people prefer Canon, Sony or Nikon. I recently purchased a Nikon mirrorless camera in the Z series and Im very impressed.
  3. Accessories: You may want to plan to use tripods, gimbals, and/or DJI wireless microphones for steady shots and good clean audio.

Capturing Drone Footage

  1. Aerial Shots: Capture sweeping establishing shots of the property to show the security system's coverage area.
  2. Dynamic Angles: Fly the drone at different heights and angles to create cool, captivating, engaging visual dynamics.
  3. Highlight Certain Areas: Focus on places in the home where security measures are critical like doors and entry points.

In Store Footage

  1. Product Demos: Show how to use specific DVR's or recording devices, like cameras and alarm systems.
  2. How to Install Process: Documenting the installation guide to demonstrate how much ease of use is possible to simplify your life.
  3. Showing Real-life Scenarios: Reenactment or documentary style scenarios that can show us how the people breaking in could respond to your system.

Editing What You Got

  1. Highlight Key Features with Bold Edits: Using powerful dramatic edits with lots of contrast can target your demographic.
  2. Keep It Engaging: Edit to maintain a brisk pace, but ensure clarity in your messaging.
  3. Music and Sound: Choose background music that matches the tone of your brand while ensuring it doesn't overshadow the narration.

Final Touches

  1. Call to Action: End with a strong call to action, directing viewers to your website or store.
  2. Social Media Optimization: Format your video for various platforms, ensuring it's eye-catching in shorter formats.

Compliance

  1. Permissions: Ensure you have the necessary permissions for drone use, especially in residential areas.
  2. Safety First: Always prioritize safety for both crew and bystanders during shoots.

By combining professional drone footage with well-planned ground shots, you can create compelling media that effectively showcases your home security products.
